About
@JTCAPTURES
Photographer | Storyteller | Cultural Connector
I am Jamie Te Huia — a New Zealand-born, Australia-based photographer whose work exists at the intersection of art, culture, and place. My practice is shaped by whakapapa, by the stories handed down, and by the ongoing relationship between people and the lands they inhabit.
Photography, for me, is not only about what is seen. It is about the unseen — the way light speaks to shadow, the way a place holds memory, the way a moment carries echoes of generations. My projects move fluidly between documentary and fine art, often grounded in the quiet details that invite pause and reflection.
Whether I am capturing the still dignity of a portrait, the layered history of a street corner, or the abstract geometry of light through flax, my aim is always the same: to create images that connect, that invite dialogue, and that honour the stories embedded in every frame.
This is more than photography — it is a practice of listening, noticing, and responding.
